Every mention in LOOQME has a sentiment (positive, negative, neutral) and a role of the monitored object (main, secondary, episodic). They are determined by the automatic coding system. If you disagree with the assessment, change it yourself or report the error to us — this improves the coding quality in your workspace.
What sentiment and role mean
| Parameter | Value | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Sentiment | Positive | The publication presents your brand (the monitored object) in a positive light. |
| Negative | The publication contains criticism, complaints or negative facts about the object. | |
| Neutral | An informational mention without evaluation. | |
| Role | Main | The object is the main topic of the publication. |
| Secondary | The object is mentioned as one of the participants alongside others. | |
| Episodic | A passing, one-time mention of the object. |
Sentiment and role are determined separately for each keyword: if one publication mentions both your brand and a competitor, each of them may have its own sentiment and role.
Method 1. Change the sentiment right in the feed
- Find the mention in the "Mentions" feed.
- Click the sentiment smiley ▾ (1) in the bottom right corner of the card.
- Select Positive, Negative or Neutral (2). The change is saved immediately, and the color of the smiley and the bar on the card is updated.
Method 2. Change the sentiment and role for a specific keyword
- Open the mention (click the title).
- Scroll down the view panel to the "Keywords in the publication" block (1).
- Next to the keyword you need, click the sentiment smiley ▾ (2) and select a new value.
- Click the role ▾ (3) (for example, "Episodic") and select Main, Secondary or Episodic.
Method 3. Change the sentiment and role for several mentions at once
- Tick the checkboxes next to the mentions you need (1). A bulk actions panel with the text "Selected N publications" (2) appears at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the pencil icon "Edit mentions (sentiment and role)" (3).
- In the "Edit mentions" window (4), select the sentiment and role next to the keyword.
- Click "Apply" (5). To clear the selection, click ✕ (6) on the right of the panel.
How to report a coding error
If the system keeps making mistakes (for example, a mention is assigned to the wrong keyword or irrelevant information remains in the text), let us know — the LOOQME team will check and fix the coding.
- Open the mention and scroll to the "Keywords in the publication" block.
- Click the "!" icon — "Report an encoding problem".
- In the "Incorrectly encoded keyword" field (1), select the keyword.
- In the "The parameter that contains the error" field (2), select an option (3): Tonality, Role, Irrelevant information has not been removed or Ungrouped news (duplicates not merged).
- Click "Send".
Tip. If you just want to fix one mention for yourself, change the sentiment manually (methods 1–3). If the error repeats on many mentions, send a coding problem report or write to the support chat so we can adjust the settings.
Frequently asked questions
Will the sentiment change in analytics after manual editing?
Yes. Analytics and reports use the current sentiment of mentions, including manually changed sentiment. Charts may not update instantly — refresh the analytics page.
Why is the sentiment not determined yet (gray smiley)?
Fresh mentions are processed automatically within some time after they arrive. If the sentiment does not appear for a long time, set it manually or write to the support chat.
Do my colleagues see my sentiment changes?
Yes, changes are saved in the workspace and are the same for all users.
How do I find all mentions with negative sentiment?
Open the filter panel → "Sentiment" → click ⊕ next to "Negative".
If you need more help, write to the support chat or contact your manager.
