The same news item often appears in many outlets: it is reprinted, a press release is published on several websites, it is reposted on social media. To prevent the feed from turning into dozens of identical publications, LOOQME groups them automatically: one publication becomes the original, and the rest become duplicates.

What counts as a duplicate

  • For traditional media (online media, agencies, print, etc.), the original is the earliest publication. All articles with more than 70% matching text are considered duplicates.
  • For social media, the original is the first post, and duplicates are its reposts within the same social network.

Where duplicates are shown

  • On the mention card — an icon of two sheets with a number shows how many duplicates the publication has.
  • In the keyword header — "N total / N originals": "total" includes duplicates, "originals" excludes them.
  • In the view panel — below the text there are "Original publication" and "Duplicates (N)" blocks with a list of all reprints.

How to show or hide duplicates in the feed

The feed toolbar has a "Duplicates" switch (6 in the screenshot below).

  • Off (default) — the feed shows only originals; duplicates are hidden inside them.
  • On (green) — the feed shows all publications, including duplicates as separate cards.

Before exporting a report from the feed, turn on the "Duplicates" switch if you need all reprints in the file. If the switch is off, the report will contain only originals.

How to view all duplicates of a publication

  1. Open the original mention (click the title).
  2. Scroll down the view panel to the "Duplicates (N)" block.
  3. The list shows the title, source and date of each reprint, as well as its potential views (the number to the left of the title).
  4. Click any duplicate to open it.

How to change the original

Sometimes it is more convenient to make the original not the first publication but, for example, the article in the largest outlet.

  1. Turn on the "Duplicates" switch.
  2. Open the publication you want to make the original.
  3. Click the "Set as original" button in the bottom bar of the view panel. The button is shown only for duplicates.

How duplicates look in reports

In HTML and DOCX reports, duplicates are shown as a list of sources with active links under the title of the original news item.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there publications without my keyword among the duplicates?

This is not an error. Duplicates are grouped automatically by text similarity, regardless of the search query. The reverse logic works the same way: if a keyword is in a duplicate, the system adds the original to the feed even if the original itself doesn't contain the keyword. This way you see the full picture of the material's reprints.

I can't find an article in the feed even though it was definitely published. What should I do?

Turn on the "Duplicates" switch: the publication may have been grouped as a duplicate of another news item. Also check the period and filters. Learn more in the article "Searching the Feed: How to Find a Mention and Check Whether an Article Is There".

Duplicates were not grouped even though it is the same news item. How do I report it?

Open the mention → the "Keywords in the publication" block → the "!" icon → select the "Ungrouped news" parameter → "Send".

How do I receive alerts about new reprints of a specific publication?

  1. Open the mention and click the bell icon "Subscribe to duplicates" (1) in the bottom bar of the view panel.
  2. In the "Subscribe to duplicate mentions" window, check the publication title (2).
  3. Choose how to receive alerts: Email or Telegram (3).
  4. For Email, enter one or more addresses separated by a comma or space (4).
  5. Click "Apply" (5). The "All your subscriptions" link (6) opens a list of all subscriptions.

After subscribing, you will receive an alert every time a new duplicate of this publication appears in the system. This is useful for tracking how your press release spreads.
